A dark fragrance shrouded in mystery, John Varvatos Dark Rebel reaches into the depths to conjure up the pleasing ambience and scents of a shadowy, smoky forest. The top notes are heady with desire, including sweet Cuban sugar cane and Jamaican rum mixed with spicy cardamom absolute and the clean smell of clary sage. Those fade into a solid heart of nutmeg and black pepper combined with woodsy fir balsam topped with black leather and the warm vanilla-like scent of storax absolute, a tree essence. This captivating potion finishes off mellow with balsa wood, prickly cedar, akigala wood, tobacco leaf and Mexican black vanilla.

As the dark bottle implies, this fragrance hints at the night sky and intrigue. Menswear designer John Varvatos released this scent in 2015 after working on it with Rodrigo Flores, a master perfumer who trained at the ISIPCA perfumery school in Versailles, France.
