Narciso Rodriguez was born in Newark, New Jersey to Cuban parents in 1961. He studied design at college and worked for a number of designers in New York, including Calvin Klein and Anne Klein. He founded the label that took his name in 1997 and it became known for designing dresses for women such as Carolyn Bessette and Michelle Obama. The brand launched its first fragrance for women in 2003 and the scent went on to win an award the same year.
